Reviewed: RANGOON (starring Kangana Ranaut, Shahid Kapoor & Saif Ali Khan)

Directed and partly written by Vishal Bharadwaj, Raangoon is a welcome experiment this year, especially after all the clichéd ridicule that hit the big screens in 2016. The makers have successfully created an awe-inspiring depiction of British India during the Second World War. However, the movie manages to portray this over-chewed chewing-gum of a concept in an entirely new perspective. It is a nice blend of realism and make-belief with a dash of Bollywood masala. But then towards the end, the masala and the make-belief gets so overdone that all the magical impact of the previous realism is utterly ruined.…

KAABIL.... Just when the Indian government has started taking steps to help the differently-abled attain a certain level of independence, the movie Kaabil is released with a whole new perspective; thus, proving that Bollywood is and has always been socially conscious. M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story Indeed The movie ‘M.S. Dhoni’, lives up to its name – ‘the untold story’, not because it shows something previously unknown but because it presents the known into a new light. There are two greatest challenges that biopic makes face, especially when making a film about someone as famous and publicly known as Dhoni. These challenges are – Creating curiosity and unpredictability in the story, that the whole nation is already aware of. Creating a sense of personal relativity in the minds of people, whose celebrity status itself distances him from the audience to…

Shoojit Sircar’s ‘PINK’: A Review..

6 months ago     Leave your thoughts

Pink – A Review ‘Pink’, unlike any previously made, judicially focussed Bollywood films, is an extremely slow paced movie. But this slow pace itself lets it; or rather, forces the audience into a state of introspection, wherein they can assess and reassess their personal views and ideas with reference to what’s going on, on screen in front of them. This pace-induced feature of introspection, is what makes the film highly relatable to every kind of viewer. Along with the slow pace, the film is also given a treatment of exceptional simplicity and realism. I, personally, have never watched a single…
